Cast of Characters


Below are all playable characters including main party members, optional characters, and guest characters. Slight spoilers below if you never played the original Blackmoon Prophecy!


Main Party Members




Class: Dragoon
Weapon: Spear
Commands: Dragon, Jump
Bio: The main character of Blackmoon Prophecy, Vahn is the head jailor in Branch Castle who is thrust into an adventure that gradually escalates into a quest to defeat an entity that threatens the entire world. Vahn is an offensive powerhouse, possessing high attack power and defense, so he is extremely susceptible to magic attaks. He is able to jump and damage enemies for high amounts of damage, which can also be used as a way to keep Vahn safe from harm - as he cannot be targeted or damaged while in the air.



Class: Black Mage
Weapon: Knife, Staff
Commands: Black Magic
Bio: A black mage from the Village of Trei in Branch, Oalston is rumoured to be a prodigal-level magician. He carries himself professionally, talking in an highly aristocratic manner that he only breaks from when surprised. As a black mage, Oalston is a physically weak attacker, but he is a master of the elements and can decimate enemies when targeting them with their elemental weaknesses. Many of his black magic spells can be used to target entire enemy formations, making him an AoE specialist.



Class: Summoner

Commands: Summon
Bio: An member of the Ivalician Empire’s Four Swords (Ivalice’s four strongest generals), Vera is also a Kindred - commonly referred to as a caller or summoner. She is able to infuse herself with Espers, taking them within herself to be able to harness and control their power at will. While she is magically gifted and can dish out extreme damage with her Espers, she is also a very capable physical fighter as well.



Class: White Mage
Weapon: Blunt, Rod
Commands: White Magic
Bio: A young white mage in training from the town of Mystic Mysidia in Western Ivalice. Elina struggles with self-confidence issues, even though those around her believe in her and her abilities. Elina is an important party member, as she learns powerful healing spells and supportive spells. She is physically frail though, and must be protected against enemies who dish out lots of physical damage.



Class: Thief
Weapon: Knife
Commands: Green Magic, Steal
Bio: A brash treasure-loving thief from the northwestern reaches of Lenadia, Laka can be difficult to get along with though, in the end, her good nature eventually gets the better of her. Laka is able to cast green magic on enemies, inflicting various status ailments to hinder them in battle. She is also able to steal items from enemies and unlock treasure chests that are locked. Additionally, she is a competent fighter with high agility, making her an overall reliable physical fighter on any given party of four.



Class: Blue Mage
Weapon: Knife, Rod, Sword
Commands: Blue Magic, Cheer
Bio: Ami is an unusually juvenile blue mage from the town of Palumpu. While she can come across as hyperactive and naive at times, there are underlying hints of mature and knowing woman underneath her more silly public guise. Ami is able to learn blue magic from items obtained from specific enemies. Her blue magic ranges from elemental attacks, to supportive party buffs, to crippling status conditions on all enemies. She is also able to hold her own physically, and can equip a variety of weapons, making her a versatile character. Additionally, her Cheer command can also be used to restore a small amount of MP to the party in battle.



Class: Ninja
Weapon: Ninja Sword
Commands: Focus, Ninjutsu
Bio: A ninja from the Village of Zen, located on the remote Isle of Zen, Nobumasa is a ninja who is traversing the world in an attempt to find powerful monsters to battle and train against - as he wishes to prove himself a competent ninja to the rest of the Village of Zen. Nobumasa is unique in that his ninja swords all strike twice, a feat that no other character can manage without equipping specialized relics. Nobumasa is also exceedingly fast, possessing the highest speed out of any character. He can disrupt enemies with his Ninjutsu abilities, and buff his own stats briefly by using the Focus command.



Class: Dark Knight
Weapon: Dark Sword
Commands: Saboteur
Bio: A disgraced dragoon-turned-dark knight from Oaktown in the kingdom of Branch. Darius seeks to enact revenge upon those who have wronged him by using his saboteur abilities to inflict negative status conditions and potent debuffs on enemies. He is also able to manipulate the shadow elemental resistance of enemies while dishing out shadow damage himself, allowing him to make any enemy of his choosing weak to his attacks and abilities.



Class: Swordsman
Weapon: Sword
Commands: Sword Art
Bio: Siegfried is a swordsman from Lindblum who seeks to be the world’s greatest swordsman. He feels that he can only attain that title if he were to acquire the legendary sword known as Excalibur, and has made it his goal in life to find the sword and claim it as his own. Siegfried is an absolute brute in battle, possessing sky-high hit points, attack power, and defense while being able to devastate enemies with abilities that allow him to counterattack often or even jump between enemies, hitting them all repeatedly. To counter being a physical juggernaut, Siegfried is absolutely devastated by magical abilities and must be supported by his party members when facing magic-based enemies.



Class: Red Mage
Weapon: Orb
Commands: Black Mage, White Magic
Bio: A mysterious red mage from the Esper World, who claims to be part-Esper himself, Godot is able to harness a wide range of magic abilities. He is able to learn and utilize all spells that Elina and Oalston learn - save for their very best spells. As a pacifist who looks down on physical violence, Godot does not have a “Fight” command, and relies solely on his magic. Due to his part-Esper lineage, Godot also possesses innate passive MP regeneration in battle which allows him to continuously cast magic longer than other mages.


Optional Characters




Class: Seeker
Weapon: Bow
Commands: Artifact
Bio: Bosche is a peculiar man who is seemingly off his rocker. In his quest to find artifacts, he joins the party for almost no reason at all other than believing that Vahn’s team will find artifacts in their travels that he can use. Bosche has the “Artifact” command, which initiates a random effect that damages the enemies or supports the party. His Artifact command can be strengthened by finding artifacts in the world, which Bosche must be the party leader to be able to identify.



Class: Dragoon
Weapon: Axe, Spear
Commands: Jump, Rally
Bio: The current ruler of Branch, Lord Adder can find himself traveling with Vahn’s party after a series of events transpire that leave him with no other choice. Adder is a powerful dragoon who, like Vahn, can jump on enemies and damage them. He can also use his Rally ability to briefly increase the maximum HP and MP of the rest of the party. While being a very capable and strong fighter, Adder is extremely slow and is always likely to bring up the rear every turn during battle.



Class: Geomancer
Weapon: Axe, Knife, Sword
Commands: Geo
Bio: Jasmine is a yong Ivalician woman who frequently roams the world, never staying in one place for long - except the Gygas Arena where she likes to train at times. She is generally good-natured, but is prone to being sarcastic and annoyed by “stupid” things. She is a geomancer, able to call upon the elements to aid her in dealing powerful physical attacks.


Guest Characters




Class: Dragoon
Weapon: Knife, Spear
Commands: Tyro
Bio: Hans is a recent dragoon recruit in Branch Castle who is assigned to Vahn. Hans can be brash and outspoken at times, possessing a temper that he keeps under control at Vahn’s insistence. Hans’ “Tyro” command allows him to utilize weaker versions of fully-fledged dragoon abilities, and he is unable to jump like Vahn. He is also a trained field medic, and is able to mend himself and Vahn in a pinch if they are ever in need of emergency healing.



Class: Doctor
Weapon: Rod
Commands: Health
Bio: The elder of the Village of Trei, who also happens to be a physician. Doctor Cunnings briefly travels with Vahn as he searches for an ingredient that Doctor Cunnings requires for a cure he is working on. Doctor Cunnings is physically very weak and can be defeated easily by most enemies, but he can use his Health command to replenish the HP of all party members. It may also remove the poison status at times.


Class: Duelist
Weapon: Sword
Commands: Finesse
Bio: The champion of the Gygas Arena, which the party theorizes is due to the powerful weapon she regularly wields. Lazula is a swordswoman who relies and agility and speed to damage enemies by utilizing her Finesse abilities.



Class: Dragoon
Weapon: Spear
Commands: Tyro
Bio: Biggs and Wedge are junior recruits in Branch Castle who consider one another to be a frenemy. They travel with Hans for a short time when he must undertake an emergency mission. Like Hans, they are not fully-fledged dragoons can cannot jump, but can utilize Tyro abilities.
